Empowering The
Maasai For A Sustainable Future
Join us in our mission to transform the lives of the Maasai community through sustainable development and empowerment programs.
The Maasai Community
The Maasai are a semi-nomadic people known for their rich cultural heritage and traditional way of life. A number of them residing primarily in the Rombo-Loitokitok area of Kenya, have faced numerous challenges including drought, deforestation, and limited access to modern education and healthcare. Despite these obstacles, the Maasai have maintained their unique customs and practices, such as their vibrant attire, traditional ceremonies, and communal lifestyle. However, their resistance to modern influences has often been misinterpreted as backwardness. MATRO works to bridge the gap between tradition and modernity, ensuring that the Maasai can thrive in today’s world while preserving their cultural identity.
